Congressional Committee Hears from Rail Shippers

The U.S. House Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials held a “Railroad Shippers Roundtable” on July 25.  The Subcommittee heard from rail shippers about reduced service and increased fees, as the majority of Class I railroads have switched to precision scheduled railroading.  While there doesn’t appear to be a congressional fix on the horizon members of the Surface Transportation Board were present at the hearing to listen to the complaints. The Subcommittee  produced a backgrounder in advance of  the roundtable, which you can read here.
