IWLA Tech/Ops Keynote: G. Tommy Hodges, Owner/Chairman of Goggin Warehousing

Tommy Hodges PhotoTommy Hodges career began in 1965 as a Tennessee Carolina Transportation company driver. After serving two years in Vietnam, Hodges returned to TCT as a supervisor/dispatcher. By 1976 he transitioned into a sales position at Spector Freight Systems.

Hodges worked his way up through the ranks from sales manager, terminal manager, vice president of sales and eventually as president and owner. He has worked in the industry virtually all of his working life, and to this day, does it because he loves it. Today, Hodges heads up his family of companies including Goggin Warehousing LLC; Titan Transfer, Inc.; HEC Leasing, Inc.; Titan Transfer Logistics, Inc.: and S/M Transportation and Warehousing, Inc.

Based in Shelbyville, Tenn., Goggin Warehousing is a full-service third-party logistics provider offering storage, transportation, distribution and solutions to logistical challenges for a wide range of businesses and manufacturing organizations. Since 1998, Goggin Warehousing has grown to 2.1 million square feet of space in 24 locations. The company also provides over-the-road trucking services through its affiliate company Titan Transfer Inc.

Hodges continues to be involved in several professional organizations. He has served as Chairman of the Tennessee Trucking Association with two separate terms and continues to serve as the Chairman of the Tennessee Trucking Foundation. He is a past (2010) Chairman of the American Trucking Associations, and is currently the Audit Committee Chair of ATA and headed up ATA’s Sustainability Task Force. Also, he serves on the board of directors of Southern Motor Carriers (SMC3) in Atlanta GA. He also has served as an Elder at the Fairlane Church of Christ in Shelbyville, Tenn., and former Chairman of the Tennessee Children’s Home in Spring Hill, Tenn.
