General Summary: This person works directly with the Director of Education & Meetings to grow the IWLA distance-learning curriculum and to enhance current education curriculum. This includes researching, developing, and maintaining business partnerships; reviewing current curriculum content (both distance learning and IWLA in-person programs); assisting in successful implementation of the IWLA Education Program that will be referred to as “IWLA Institute”; producing webinars; and working on ancillary education projects.
Essential Duties
I. Curriculum Development
- Assesses and helps hone IWLA in-person education programming and distance-learning programming;
- Researches and helps develop educational content;
- Tracks student progress in completing classes and requirements;
- Leads focus groups;
- Assist members with education questions and registering for programs;
- Identifies industry experts and other professionals to tap as resources; and
- Helps launch:
- standard curriculum and content (based on the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to be successful in warehousing);
- training materials and teaching aids (course outlines, workbooks, assessment tools, checklists, audio and video content when appropriate); and
- distance-learning curriculum.
II. Research and Partnerships
- Researches about and completes outreach to potential education content partners;
- Secures IWLA-member access to the identified resources;
- Work with outside providers and the with IWLA staff team to create a clearinghouse for this information on the IWLA website;
- Works with the IWLA marketing and education staff to announce and market these tools; and
- Helps identify gaps between what is available and what IWLA members have cited as their educational needs.

Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required (in education preferred)
- Working knowledge of adult-learning theory, principles and approaches, including learning modalities
- Experience in curriculum development of online/distance-learning modules – minimum two years preferred
- Learning Management System experience
- Proficient in project management
- Proficient in PowerPoint (Microsoft) and other products in the Office suite
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience (medium to high) with video production software
- Ability to work with volunteers
- Ability to work occasional overtime as needed or required by management
- Experience in writing curriculum is a plus
- Understanding/experience in course authoring software (Adobe Captivate, Articulate, Lectora, etc.) is a plus
- Ability to travel domestically four to six times per year
- Ability to perform the essential functions of this position
- Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds
