On July 30, Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) released the first bipartisan paid family leave proposal along with an FAQ for the plan. The plan gives new parents the option to bring forward their recently increased Child Tax Credit (CTC) to receive a $5,000 benefit when a child is born or adopted. This option would allow families to have more flexibility in deciding how to finance time off work or infant care. The plan is being touted positively as it does not require new employer mandates, new entitlements, increased taxes, or impact Social Security.
