UPS Foundation provides global funding and logistics support

UPS Foundation contributes US$500,000 and provides logistics support for relief efforts in Australia, Puerto Rico and the Philippines.

Global citizenship program – The UPS Foundation – has announced its plans to provide support to Australia, Puerto Rico and the Philippines by bringing life saving supplies and funding to the regions impacted by wildfires, earthquakes and volcanoes.

“Our hearts go out to all the lives being impacted by these terrible disasters,” said Eduardo Martinez, president of The UPS Foundation and UPS chief diversity and inclusion officer. “The scale of devastation is stunning, and each situation is complex in its own way. We’re grateful to be able to engage our relief partner organizations working to bring relief to these areas, and we’re committed to continuing our efforts as recovery begins.”

Australia

Currently in Australia, more than 18mn acres of land has been burned, destroying more than 2,000 homes and affecting billions of animals. Via the American Red CrossAustralian Red Crossthe Salvation Army and the World Wildlife Fund UPS is helping to meet the essential needs of the country.

Puerto Rico

Currently, two thirds of the island of Puerto Rico is without power and a quarter of a million people without water, due to continious earthquakes. Still recovering from the impact of Hurricane Maria in 2017, UPS is helping to support the island via the Salvation ArmyUNICEFGood360 and SBP, with funding and in-kind logistics to bring materials to those urgently in need.

The Philippines

Impacting 500,000 people, the eruption of the Taal Volcano has destroyed homes, leaving much of the region in ruins. As part of its efforts UPS is bringing urgent relief items such as masks for the areas where air quality is poor.
